About the Book
Ask anyone who has served aboard a ship. When you become ill, you may be sent to sick bay to get better. When David contracts chicken pox, he goes to his grandparents' house to recuperate. Knowing David's love for playing with toy boats, Grammy says he's going to "Sick Bay". Sharon Olexa Crandall has written an enchanting story of how, during a brief illness, a little boy strengthens his bonds with his grandparents. The story was written while the author listened to the First Suite for Military Band in E-flat by Gustav Holst. The spirit of the music is reflected in David's story and the warmth of the grandparent's tender loving care is pictured in Sue Kemp's lovely illustration's.
